We are pleased to announce the opening of our medical spa at 191 Herricks.  The Spa is located within the Herricks Medical Office Building.  The entrance for the Medical Spa is the second entrance, closest to Herricks Rd. There is ample parking at that entrance.

A medical spa differs from regular spa in many ways.  Most importantly, treatments are by medical professionals or under the supervision of medical professionals.  Our spa is also going to offer alternative medical treatments such as massage therapy to help alleviate pain and other problems.  The primary goal of the medical spa is helping patients through aesthetics.  We are pleased to offer free consultations on treatments such as Botox, Juvederm, and all plastic surgical procedures.  Call today for a consultation on any services currently available.

If you are not interested in medical spa procedures, then you may be interested in a relaxing massage!  The spa will be offering pregnancy massage and post pregnancy massage.  We will also be providing massage treatments for men and women such as Swedish massage.  For pricing and availability, just call the spa through our main number 516-742-2224 extension 121.

We also offer comprehensive skin care therapy.  This will include facials, chemical peels and microdermabrasion.  If you are interested in any of these treatments, please call and place your name on our list.  WH Spa Medical at 191 Herricks is here to better serve the needs of all of our patients.  We hope you enjoy your spa.

BOTOX®

What Is BOTOX® Cosmetic?

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to improve the look of moderate-to-severe frown lines between the brows in people 18 to 65 years of age for a short period of time (temporary).

BOTOX® Cosmetic is administered by a healthcare professional as a simple, nonsurgical treatment that is injected directly into the muscles between the brows. It works by blocking nerve impulses to the injected muscles. This reduces muscle activity that causes moderate to severe lines to form between the brows.

Facts about BOTOX® Cosmetic:

BOTOX® Cosmetic, introduced in 2002, is the first botulinum toxin to be approved by the FDA to temporarily treat moderate to severe glabellar lines between the brows.

With real, noticeable results, no surgery and no recovery time, there are many reasons why BOTOX® Cosmetic has been chosen by millions of women and their doctors.

Approximately 11.8 million1 BOTOX® Cosmetic procedures have been administered in the United States since 2002.

92% of 303 patients surveyed were satisfied with the results of their BOTOX® Cosmetic experience2,3.

Individual results may vary.

The BOTOX® Procedure

Using a very fine needle, a qualified professional will inject BOTOX® Cosmetic into certain muscles in your face that are causing lines and wrinkles. Taking only a few minutes, BOTOX ®treatment requires no anesthetic and recovery is fast, allowing you to return to work and resume your normal daily activities that same day.  There is minimal discomfort associated with the injection.

BOTOX ® Results

Right after the BOTOX® treatment, some patients may experience mild , temporary bruising.  Wrinkles typically begin to fade within 24 hours, with continued improvement over the next 5 days. The effects of BOTOX® Cosmetic typically last up to four months, although many have reported results lasting up to a full year. After several BOTOX® treatments, the results may be prolonged.

Risks and Side Effects of BOTOX®

Side effects of BOTOX® Cosmetic are rare and are usually mild and temporary. The most common side effects caused by BOTOX® are headaches and temporary redness or bruising of the skin at the site of injection. In rare cases, slight drooping of an eyelid or asymmetry of expression may occur. Any risk of complication can be reduced by choosing a qualified and experienced professional injector.

What is JUVÉDERM® XC?

JUVÉDERM® XC is the smooth gel filler that your doctor uses to instantly smooth away wrinkles around your mouth and nose. With just one treatment, you’ll get smooth and natural-looking results that last up to a year.

JUVÉDERM® XC is manufactured using HYLACROSS technology, creating a smooth-consistency gel. It is infused with lidocaine to improve comfort during treatment. With JUVÉDERM® XC you get the smooth results you expect, with the improved comfort you want.Ω.

Everyone will notice, but no one will know.

Where Does It Work?

Everyone’s skin ages differently and JUVÉDERM® XC may be used to rejuvenate multiple problem areas.* From smile lines to vertical lip lines, you can smooth away unwanted wrinkles and restore natural contours. Learn more about the individual treatment areas by rolling over the list below.

How does JUVÉDERM® XC Work?

Young, healthy-looking skin contains an abundance of a naturally hydrating substance called hyaluronic acid (HA). But as you age, sunlight and other factors can reduce the amount of HA in your skin. The lack of HA causes your skin to lose structure and volume, creating unwanted facial wrinkles and folds - like those parentheses lines around your nose and mouth.

Using a dermal filler like JUVÉDERM® XC is a safe and effective way to replace the HA your skin has lost, bringing back its volume and smoothing away facial wrinkles and folds.

Read on for more details about how JUVÉDERM® XC makes those parentheses disappear:

Safety Considerations

With any cosmetic treatment, safety is the first concern. As always, it’s important to consult with your doctor before deciding on a wrinkle treatment. Because JUVÉDERM® injectable gel is a non-surgical, in-office treatment, most patients experience minimal recovery and downtime.

JUVÉDERM® and JUVÉDERM® XC Side Effects

JUVÉDERM® XC injectable gel is generally well tolerated. Most side effects are mild to moderate in nature and their duration is short lasting (7 days or less). The most common side effects include, but are not limited to, temporary injection site reactions such as redness, pain/tenderness, firmness, swelling, lumps/bumps, bruising, itching, and discoloration. As with all skin injection procedures, there is a risk of infection.

Hyaluronic acid fillers are generally biocompatible, which means allergy skin testing is not required prior to treatment.

Allergies

If you're considering treatment with JUVÉDERM® injectable gel, your healthcare professional should ask about your medical history to determine if you are an appropriate candidate for treatment. JUVÉDERM® injectable gel for facial wrinkles and folds should not be used in patients who have:

  • ·         Severe allergies marked by a history of anaphylaxis or history or presence of multiple severe allergies
  • ·         A history of allergies to gram-positive bacterial proteins
  • ·         Do not use Juvederm if you are allergic to Lidocaine

Post-treatment Considerations

Your healthcare professional will tell you what to expect following treatment with JUVÉDERM® injectable gel. You should ask your healthcare professional when makeup may be applied after your treatment.

You should avoid the following for at least 24 hours after treatment:

  • ·         Strenuous exercise
  • ·         Consumption of alcoholic beverages
  • ·         Extended exposure to sun or heat

Exposure to any of the above may cause temporary redness, swelling, and/or itching at the injection sites. If there is swelling, you may need to place an ice pack over the swollen area. Be sure to report any redness and/or visible swelling that lasts for more than a few days or any other symptoms that cause you concern to your healthcare professional and/or contact Allergan Product Support at 1-877-345-5372.

Other Considerations

In addition, you and your healthcare professional should discuss the following important treatment considerations in order to help avoid unsatisfactory results and complications when using JUVÉDERM® injectable gel:

  • ·         Using blood thinners like Aspirin or Ibuprofen
  • ·         Used in combination with any other procedure that affects your skin at the same time can cause you to have inflammation
  • ·         Used with caution if you are immunocompromised
  • ·         Safety not established in Pregnancy and Breastfeeding patients or under 18 years old.
  • ·         Safety not established in patients with history of excessibe scarring or hyperpigmentation.

Your healthcare professional should also warn you that the safety and effectiveness of JUVÉDERM® injectable gel for the treatment of areas other than facial lines and facial folds (such as lips) have not been established in controlled clinical studies.
